Old Dominion Opens Up The 2010 NCAA Tournament With an Upset of Notre Dame

Old Dominion Monarchs vs Notre Dame Irish was the first game to finish in the tourney this year, and it ended with the Monarchs pulling off the upset 51-50. Down 51-48 with 9 seconds left the Irish's Carleton Scott 3-point try went in and out and Luke Harangody gathered the rebound to make it a one point lead as time expired.

Harangody who has become very ineffective since a bruised knee earlier this season was made into a non-factor by ODU as it took him until late in the game to hit his first shot. He finished his Notre Dame career with 4 points (2-9 shooting) and 7 rebounds.

Frank Hassell led the Monarchs with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Keyon Carter added 11 points and 6 rebounds off the bench, and hit two clutch free throws to make it a 3 point game with 9 seconds left.

As an ODU alumni I'm happy for the Monarchs!! (Although I did not pick them to win this game)
