St. Mary's Pulls The Upset Over Villanova
St. Mary's exposed a major weakness Villanova had all season, their lack of a true post presence. Omar Samhan had 32 points and 7 rebounds to lead Sain't Mary's to the 75-68 upset of #2 seed Villanova. There were points in the game where Samhan seemed unstoppable, as Villanova simply had no answer.
The loss also marked the second game in a row that Scottie Reynolds suffered a horrible shooting night. A day after going 2-15 in a first round win over Robert Morris, Reynolds concluded his Villanova career by shooting 2-11 from the field. He finished with just 8 points.
