UNC "Upsets" Mississippi State in the NIT
Larry Drew II added some March Madness highlights for North Carolina this year, as he hit a shot over Mississippi State's Jarvis Varnado to win the game for the Tarheels 76-74. (Too bad the shot came in the tournament that doesn't matter.) Varnado just happens to hold the records for most career blocks in NCAA history.
The Tarheels are one win away from the Final Four of the NIT at Madison Square Garden. They face UAB on Tuesday to decide that.
UNC really need some sort of bright spot in their season, and it would be perfect for them to pull together and win the NIT.
But hey if it doesn't happen UNC fans look on the bright side the Tarheels (18-16) are now two wins over .500. Meaning even if they were to lose to UAB they would finish the season with a winning record.
And, I know it really wasn't an upset but according to the seedings in the NIT it was. What a terrible season for UNC when you can call a win over Mississippi State an upset.
